Plastics analysis

Plastics are increasingly being used for technical applications in high-tech industries such as the semiconductor, automotive, and aerospace industries, as well as in electronics technology and microsystems engineering. Testing and monitoring of the correct composition and optimal properties are decisive factors for the quality of the entire product.

Apart from evaluation of the thermal properties of plastics, like weakening or melting point, more and more attention is being paid to the detection of impurity levels. Water-soluble ions may have unintentional contact with other components and lead to damage. Thus, the detection of those ions by ion chromatography (IC) is one of the major tasks. Moreover, outgassing or migrating components have to be analyzed.
