Leaching/run-off

Displacement behaviour in the soil plays an important role for the environmental behaviour
of substances. Sorption on the soil, solubility in water and rate of degradation are parameters that are determined in laboratory tests and which are included in the risk assessment for the substance. Within the scope of the registration procedure an evaluation is made of the effects that can be expected from the run-off or leaching of substances into the surface or ground water. Data recorded in the field over several years and from different locations is required to further increase the level of reliability within the scope of risk assessment.

Since 1993 SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS has been conducting higher tier environmental field studies into the displacement behaviour of crop protection agents according to the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). These studies require special experience in the areas of measuring technology and sampling as well as special installations at the locations.
